Do you have family and friends who have suffered irreparable damage or worst, lost their life, due to lack of health access? Do you know a person with diabetes who has gone blind or lost a limb from not being able to get the care they need? Have you lost a relative because healthcare was simply too expensive to treat their illness and extend their life?
The Task Force on Access, Affordability, and Advocacy, led the by the Coalition of Orange County Community Clinics, has created The List Project to collect stories and show community leaders, elected officials and residents the human toll of not having adequate health care in Orange County. With your help, The List Project will memorialize the name of your loved one(s) in an individualized poster so that we may help create meaning for your loved one's struggle in accessing health.
To participate in The List Project, please submit this info about the loved one you would like to memorialize:
- Full name (Only first names and first letter of second name will be added to the final list),
- Age (to show that barriers to health access occur in all age groups)
- City (to show barriers to health access occur in all neighborhoods)
- A short story, about 4 to 5 sentences, telling how your loved one has been hurt by lack of health access.
A photo can also be included to help put a face with the story. The Task Force on Access, Affordability, and Advocacy will use these stories and displays to talk with community leaders and elected officials about ways to improve health care delivery n Orange County.
