Cal State Fullerton is looking at a $36.7 million shortfall for 2009-10. Fees have been raised, but there still is a gap. The only way to close that gap is to cut students and jobs.
- 1200 fewer students are allowed to enroll at Cal State Fullerton in Fall 2009. The 1200 fewer students are college-eligible community college transfers and first-time freshmen.
- Summer school for 2009 was cut by 38% - 10,500 students attended summer school in 2008. In 2009, only 6,500 attended summer school. Summer school is vital for part time students to be able to graduate from college in a reasonable amount of time.
- Spring 2010 enrollment is now closed. About 2000 students will not be able to attend Cal State Fullerton in spring 2010.
- Management is negotiating with labor unions regarding furloughs. The California State Employees Assoication (CSUEU) and United Physicians and Dentists (IPD) have agreed to furloughs. The California Faculty Association (CFA) is polling members. Academic Professionals of California (APC) is in negotiations with management. Other unions have opted for layoffs instead of furloughs.
Oh, and the cuts aren't done yet!
