Enterprise zones are designated by the state of California to give large tax breaks to employers in specially designated areas. The idea is that lowering taxes will attract businesses and create jobs. Chambers of Commerce are getting behind ABX3 82 from Assembly members Blakeslee and Solorio to create more enterprise zones.
Independent statistical research by the Public Policy Institute of California shows enterprise zones have a negligible impact on job creation but are very expensive due to the amount of tax breaks generated. At a time when California is running out of money, creating more places with reduced taxes is not the way to go.
Write to Assemblyman Solorio and let him know enterprise zones are no bang for a lot of buck.
