The Orchards, a unique mixed use retirement community on the Crystal Cathedral Rancho Capistrano property will be discussed at a special joint meeting of the the City Council and Planning Commission on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 5:30pm to 8:30 pm. The proposed development will be approximately 766,000 square foot mixed use retirement community, which would include 415 residential units.
The development is being built by Continuing Life Communities (CLC). The project includes villas, independent living, and a health center with skilled nursing staff to accommodate a wide variety of residents with differing needs. A small golf course, a community commons area, and a restored orchard are also part of the project. Continuing Life Communities has also developed La Costa Glen in Carlsbad, University Village in Thousand Oaks, Morningside in Fullerton and Stoneridge Creek in Pleasanton.
The project is also related to the option agreement which the City Council unanimously approved back in January, 2009 that would provide the City with an option to acquire 116 acres of open space if the CLC Senior project is ultimately approved by the City.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend the workshop which will be held in the City Council Chambers at San Juan Capistrano City Hall, 32400 Paseo Adelanto, San Juan Capistrano, CA on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 starting at 5:30 PM.
