The October Kaiser Health Tracking Poll finds that 55% of American believe health care reform is important, and 57% of the public favors a public option.
The survey also shows that about half of the public believes reform will start sooner rather than later. About 50% of the people surveyed said they believed the reforms in insurance market rules and help for the uninsured would start within the first year. The current legislation in Congress has the reforms being phased in over several years.
