We know Kristina Dodge is Chairwoman (and Chairwoman of the Fair Board), Gary Hayakawa is President, Dale Dykema is Chief Financial Officer, Mary Young is Secretary, and members at large are Joyce Tucker and David Ellis. The letter says that there will be 11 board members out of a total of 40 members.
There are 34 members unaccounted for, who could be anyone.
But we do know 6 of the members are Fair Board members now and will be Fair Board members once the sale is stopped. We need to fix that.
The bylaws for the group have never been made available to any member of the public or the City of Costa Mesa. Reliable sources have said that not even all of the 6 named members of the 40 member board have seen the bylaws. The same reliable sources say the Foundation attorney won't release the bylaws to the other Foundation members.
Why won't the attorney release the bylaws? I'm just asking the question, somebody has to.
The bylaws would say how the 40 member board would be run. If we could see the bylaws and other legal documents for this Foundation, the public could see if there's one person making all money and contract decisions, or if something else is being done. But we can't see that. And they still want to buy our Fairgrounds. And remember, these are Fair Board members doing this to the public. Is this the Fair Board we want to run our Fairgrounds?
The other problem is where is the money coming from to buy our Fairgrounds? Think about it this way. Two guys walk into a Mercedes dealer, each with identical briefcases stuffed with money. Both want to buy an S-class for cash and drive off the lot. Guy 1 won't show his ID, won't let them run his credit, won't fill out the employer and credit reference information on the sales form. Guy 1 won't tell how he got the money or what he does for a living. He just wants to push the money over the table and drive home in an S-class. Guy 2 fills out the credit check info, tells how he got the money by selling an apartment building, and he shows his ID. Guy 2 passes the credit check, and says he's doing a cash sale so he can surprise his wife with a new car when she comes back home tomorrow.
Guess what? Guy 2 gets the car and Guy 1 doesn't. Guy 2 has no problem telling his story and his story checks out. Guy 1, well who knows where Guy 1 got the money from or why he needs that car today. A car dealer has the good sense to turn down Guy 1.
Same deal with the Fair Foundation. They're Guy 1. Won't show ID, won't let us run credit, won't say what they do for a living. I'm not saying they're doing anything wrong, but it would be really easy to hide something bad in a deal like that. Is there some one they are hiding until the deal is done? Where is the money coming from - is it coming from some one we don't want to know about? And is this the Fair Board we want running the show? I'm asking the questions that some body has to ask.
