Tickets are now available for a special screening of The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club hosted by the City of Mission Viejo in support of the KOCE-TV Foundation.
Join director Amanda Pope, writer/producer Nick Spark and their special guests as they celebrate one of the 20th Century's most accomplished and outspoken female pilots.
The screening takes place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.
Visitors will enjoy The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club, a 64-minute feature documentary about the extraordinary life of Florence “Pancho” Barnes (1901-1975). She was an adventurer, stunt pilot, bar owner and one of the top female aviators of the 20th century.
The documentary features interviews with astronaut Buzz Aldrin, test pilots Bob Cardenas, Bob Hoover and Chuck Yeager, and biographers Lauren Kessler and Barbara Schultz. The film is narrated by Tom Skerritt, with Kathy Bates as the voice of Pancho.
Tickets are $10 and include light refreshments. The event is expected to sell out fast, so patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
