Sheryl WuDunn won a Pulitzer Prize along with her husband, Nicholas D. Kristof for their coverage of the Tiananmen Square democracy movement in Beijing which ended in a military crackdown. Together, they have written Half the Sky: From Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, which tells of the feudal attitudes towards women in the developing world. The book also discusses how a growing crop of mostly local women who are social entrepreneurs are working to transform their societies.
Sheryl will be joined by outgoing Assembly Speaker Karen Bass who will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
