The tragedy of Iran has fallen off American news. News is about ratings, and quite frankly, a month long Michael Jackson funeral was a ratings blitz for American news. Iran got coverage as long as there were big demonstrations in the streets. After the demonstrations were cracked down on, American news moved on to other things, like death panels and the hunt for a Kenyan birth certificate that never existed.
Frontline, the long running PBS documentary series that has a reputation for taking on tough subjects in depth, is partnering with the Tehran Bureau, a news bureaus set up by Iranians. Frontline is backing them for a new website, English translation of stories, news segment production, and documentary production.
